What are Doshas?

Ether, air, fire, water, earth - these are the sacred elements that make up our universe, the universe inside and outside of us, as understood by the great sages of Ayurveda. These elements are the basic building blocks of nature and all it’s patterns, including the nature of the human body, mind and spirit.

Every person, animal, plant are woven together with their own unique blend of these five elements called doshas

    🌀 🌬 Vata (ether & air)

    🔥 🌊 Pitta (fire & water)

    🌊 ⛰️ Kapha (water & earth)

Ayurveda teaches us how to tune into these energies, witnessing their expressions within ourselves and the world around us. Through this lens we are able to rediscover our innate, unique version of health, creating a life of balance and peace.

We each have a unique combination of these doshas, referred to as our Prakruti, reflecting our elemental constitution and inherent physical, mental and spiritual tendencies.

Understanding the doshas offers insights into our nature, guiding us on our journey of self-discovery and optimal health.

Why now?

Many of us who’ve grown up in modern society have been stripped of our innate, intuitive connection to balanced health. We’ve been forced to reject our cyclical patterns and internal seasons in the name of productivity and progress. We’ve become so disconnected from ourselves and the natural world, we no longer possess the innate intuition of health, self-healing and peaceful living.

We’ve become reliant on professionals, doctors, drugs, diet trends and media to tell us how to live and how to heal. We disregard our own intuitive feelings and knowings because “what do I know? I’m no health professional.”

The truth is, you don’t need to be a professional to bring deep health into your life, you just need to remember the elemental truth of your being as part of nature. Your body already contains natural healing mechanisms, and you are capable of connecting to this wisdom. Our ancestors from all over the world held this knowledge and so do we, it’s just buried beneath years of societal programming and patterns.

Thankfully, we are blessed that the ancient scribes in India wrote this divine wisdom down so that we all may share in this knowledge and reawaken the deep knowing and intuition of well-being.
